Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour
Morning: Drive to Materuni Village
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup by your Revelation Adventure Safaris guide, who will accompany you throughout the day. As you leave the town behind and venture into the highlands, the scenery transforms into green hills, banana plantations, and misty forests. The final stretch is a bumpy mountain road leading to Materuni Village, perched on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Upon arrival, you’ll register at the village office and begin your journey to the falls.
🌿 Materuni Waterfalls Hike
Your walk to the waterfall takes about 40–45 minutes and is filled with stunning views, exotic plants, and insights into Chagga traditions and village life. The path winds through coffee and banana farms, and your local guide will share fascinating stories and facts along the way. On a clear day, you might even glimpse Kilimanjaro’s snowy peak towering above.
The reward at the end of the trail is breathtaking: the Materuni Waterfall crashes down from over 80 meters, forming a crystal-clear pool at its base. If you’re up for it, take a refreshing swim in the natural basin—or just relax and soak in the tranquility.
🍽️ Traditional Chagga Lunch & Banana Beer Tasting
After your hike, return to the village where a home-cooked Chagga meal awaits. You’ll enjoy dishes made from fresh, local ingredients—and for the brave, a sample of local banana beer, brewed right in the village.
☕ Chagga Coffee Experience
Next, you’ll dive into one of Tanzania’s finest exports—coffee. From bean to cup, you’ll learn the traditional Chagga coffee-making process: harvesting, drying, roasting, grinding—and best of all—tasting.
Join in the process by pounding roasted beans using a mortar and pestle, all while singing traditional songs with your hosts. This hands-on experience ends with a fresh cup of your very own hand-brewed Chagga coffee, sipped while overlooking the vibrant green hills.
