7 Days Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania – Welcome to Arusha

📍 Arusha | Elevation: ~1,400m

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be warmly received by your Revelation Adventure Safaris guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. After check-in, your guide will conduct a full climb briefing and gear check to ensure you’re fully prepared for the mountain ahead. The rest of the day is yours to relax and soak in the Tanzanian atmosphere.

Day 2: Arusha – Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Start your adventure with a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate, where you’ll complete registration formalities. A short drive further takes you to the trailhead where your hike begins through rich rainforest, home to blue monkeys and colobus monkeys. Your first night is spent under a canopy of trees at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 2 Camp

🛏️ Accommodation: Shira 2 Camp | Meals: B, L, D

Today, you ascend out of the forest and enter the heather and moorland zone. The trail unfolds across the magnificent Shira Plateau, offering panoramic views of Mount Meru in the distance. After passing Shira 1 Camp, you’ll continue to Shira 2 Camp, surrounded by wide open terrain and starry skies.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

📍 Elevation: 3,850m → 4,630m → 3,950m
🛏️ Accommodation: Barranco Camp | Meals: B, L, D

This is a key acclimatization day, where you’ll climb high and sleep low. Ascend to the dramatic Lava Tower at 4,630m, then descend gradually to Barranco Camp (3,950m), nestled beneath the awe-inspiring Barranco Wall. You’ll pass through alpine desert and marvel at the ever-changing landscape.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

📍 Elevation: 3,950m → 4,035m
🛏️ Accommodation: Karanga Camp | Meals: B, L, D

Begin the day with an exhilarating scramble up the Barranco Wall—one of the most memorable parts of the climb. After reaching the top, the trail levels out and leads to Karanga Camp, a perfect mid-point for acclimatization and rest. The short hiking day leaves plenty of time to recharge.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (Summit Base Camp)

Today’s trek takes you to Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit. The landscape here is stark and arid, often dusted with snow. After an early dinner and final briefing, you’ll head to bed early to rest before the summit push.

Day 7: Summit Day – Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

🚶‍♂️ Trekking: 17 km | 12–15 hours
📍 Elevation: 4,673m → 5,895m → 3,100m
🛏️ Accommodation: Mweka Camp | Meals: B, L, D

Around midnight, your summit attempt begins. Trek slowly under the starlit sky toward Stella Point (5,739m) and finally to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)Africa’s highest point. Watch the sunrise from the Roof of Africa, then begin your descent back to Barafu for rest, and on to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Return to Arusha

🚶‍♂️ Trekking: 10 km | 3–4 hours
📍 Elevation: 3,100m → 1,640m
🛏️ Accommodation: Hotel in Arusha | Meals: B, L

Enjoy your final descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate. A comfortable vehicle will return you to Arusha, where a hot shower, delicious meal, and celebration await.

Day 9: Departure Day or Optional Add-On Safari

📍 Optional safari or Zanzibar escape | Meals: Breakfast

Depending on your flight schedule, spend the morning relaxing or exploring Arusha before being transferred to the airport. Alternatively, extend your adventure with a custom safari to Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, or a relaxing beach escape to Zanzibar—all arranged by Revelation Adventure Safaris.
